LIBERTY VILLAGE
HEALTH
There
are many aspects of life which together in a holistic way influence our
health. What we eat is only one of them but this serves as an
example of changing views which make a big difference in our day to day
health and quality of life.
Increasingly,
articles in the media consider the links between diet, the soul,
and physical health. A very few years ago, it was considered
outright fanaticism by modern orthodox medicine to even suggest treatment
of diseases by
diet and natural remedies.
Hypocrites'
statement about diet being the best medicine had grown out of
vogue, it seems.
With a renewed interest and societal tolerance for preventive and
holistic approaches, there is now hope that health rejuvenating
programs can be offered to all. Many "incurable"
systemic, chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and heart
problems --
even debilitating arthritis-- can all be seen as resulting from
the long term and gradual deterioration of the bodies' built-in
capability to maintain it's own health.
Given proper nutrition, the avoidance of an overload of harmful
substances, and a close look at attitudes, stress, and other
factors that can weaken health, invasive treatment of symptoms can
be replaced by attention to the body's overall requirements.
Given half a chance, the body, mind and Spirit have their own means for healing. In our New Liberty Village
cyber community, plans
for a new and novel health care spa are underway, hopefully making
the old New Liberty Village Hospital obsolete in a short time except
perhaps for emergency care for accidents and situations of extreme
duress and disease.

NOTE:
Health is an intimate personal matter and choice. What and how a person
chooses to eat and drink, and how otherwise treats their own body, and the type of
treatment one seeks when ill health develops is not a group decision, nor ideally
anyway, even an
economic one. It is foremost, a 'spiritual' issue, a matter of choice
and awareness.

Drug Sales Will Boom in Coming Years
Although
many top drugs will lose US patent protection over the next 5
years, sales from new and existing products will more than
make up for any lost revenue in coming years. An aging
population, particularly baby boomers who demand a better
quality of life in retirement, continuing medical
breakthroughs, improved efficacy and safety of drugs, and
patient awareness will drive the demand for medication. Global
pharmaceutical sales are expected to reach $415 billion by
2002. The global pharmaceutical industry generated revenues of
$302 billion in 1998, of which North America sales accounted
for $140 billion. Europe generated $90 billion in
pharmaceutical sales, while Asia, Africa and Australia
accounted for $73 billion of the total.
Nine
countries, including the US, Italy, Japan, Germany, France,
the UK, Brazil, Spain and Canada, account for 74% of world
pharmaceutical sales. Over the next few years, Spain is
expected to lead the way with 48% growth, followed by the US
with 46% growth, the UK with 42% growth, and Canada with 34%
growth.
COMMENT:
Folks, take a look at those numbers. Nearly one-half a
trillion dollars of drugs are expected to be sold worldwide in
the next few years. That is one heck of a large chunk of
change. When you are working with sums that large, it is
possible to create some very potent and effective power and
influence. Patients constantly ask me why so many things are
wrong in traditional medicine. Philosophically, it all boils
down to the pervasive negative influence of the multi-national
drug companies. They influence nearly all of medical pre and
post graduate education. I know I went to medical school
thinking diet and exercise and came out brain washed believing
in drugs cure everything. It took me nearly ten years to fully
recover from their brainwashing influences and see the truth.
Traditional medicine certainly has its values, but for the
most part they need to be restricted to diagnostic and
emergency medical interventions. When one starts to use the
paradigm for chronic illness it generally leads to unmitigated
disasters. Much of my medical practice revolves around
rescuing people from the damage that was done to them from
traditional medical approaches. Fortunately, tools like the
Internet allow more widespread distribution of the truth so
people can understand how their bodies work and how more
simple measures can generally restore their health. Dr.
